Contract Opportunity at Leading Investment Bank

Contract End Date: December 31st, 2026

Location: London (5 days per week)

Day Rate: Competitive rate, inside IR35 via Rockford Payroll

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Java/Python Engineer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within a collaborative and innovative environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java and/or Python development, with a solid understanding of modern cloud and DevOps technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust applications using Java and/or Python.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Implement and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform.
Deploy and manage containerized applications on AWS ECS.
Work with PostgreSQL databases to design and optimize data storage solutions.
Utilize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Spinnaker, or equivalent tooling to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
Ensure code quality, security, and performance through best practices and code reviews.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development processes.

Required Skills and Experience

Proficient in Java and/or Python programming languages.
Strong experience with React for front-end development.
Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS ECS.
Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL database design and querying.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, or equivalent.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile development environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
