Energy Engineer (Field)
EV.Careers is currently seeking a full-time, direct-hire Energy Engineer for one of our partners, an energy and building-systems company that helps commercial and industrial facilities measure and manage how they use energy. In this role you are the hands-on technical lead in the field: you stand up the metering and monitoring systems that capture a building's energy data, commission the equipment, troubleshoot what does not work, and are the person the customer counts on to get it right.
Responsibilities
• Design sub-metering and energy-data systems, including meter and CT/PT selection, point mapping, scaling, and validating the data.
• Connect meters and building equipment using BACnet and Modbus, working alongside field crews and vendors.
• Commission metering, charging, and control systems: confirm communications, point mapping, and data accuracy, and resolve issues on-site or remotely.
• Onboard customers to their dashboards, train them, and turn clean data into insights they can act on.
Requirements
• 3+ years of hands-on field experience with electrical, controls, metering, or building/facility systems (installation, commissioning, or metering work).• Comfortable installing, wiring, and commissioning field equipment, with strong attention to detail during setup and verification.
• Able to read electrical one-lines and panel schedules and find your way around building electrical systems.
• Experience with energy metering or sub-metering, EV charging, or building automation and data systems (commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, or data validation).
• Working knowledge of BACnet (IP and MS/TP) and Modbus (TCP/RTU).
• Valid, insurable driver's license.
• Field experience in commercial or industrial facilities, including retrofits with older, legacy systems.
• CEM, Lighting Certified (LC), or EVITP certification, or equivalent hands-on charging experience.
• A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (a plus, not required).
Benefits
• Competitive salary plus a performance bonus.• 401(k) with company match.
• Strong medical, dental, and vision coverage.
• Open PTO.
• An onsite, field-anchored role (roughly 25 to 50% travel to customer sites) with real ownership and room to grow as the technical lead customers rely on.
