About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented General Manager – Background Verification to lead and manage the end-to-end Background Verification (BGV) operations. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, compliant, and high-quality verification services while managing teams, client relationships, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage end-to-end Background Verification operations including employment, education, address, reference, identity, and criminal verification.
  

• Manage and mentor BGV teams, team leaders, and operational staff.
  

• Ensure verification processes are completed accurately within defined TAT and SLA requirements.
  

• Develop and implement SOPs, quality standards, and process improvements.
  

• Monitor daily operational performance, productivity, accuracy, and turnaround time.
  

• Handle escalations and resolve complex verification cases effectively.
  

• Manage client relationships and conduct regular reviews with key clients.
  

• Prepare and present MIS, operational dashboards, and performance reports to senior management.
  

• Ensure compliance with company policies, data privacy requirements, and applicable legal/regulatory standards.
  

• Identify process gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  

• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and external agencies to ensure smooth verification operations.
  

• Drive automation and technology adoption to improve efficiency and scalability.
  

• Manage operational budgets, manpower planning, and resource allocation.
  

Candidate Profile

• Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline; MBA/PGDM preferred.
  

• 8–12 years of relevant experience in Background Verification, KYC, Risk Operations, Verification Services, or related operations.
  

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial/leadership role.
  

• Strong understanding of BGV processes, SLA/TAT management, quality control, and client servicing.
  

• Proven experience in managing large teams and multiple client accounts.
  

• Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  

• Strong knowledge of MIS and reporting; proficiency in MS Excel is required.
  

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
