  • Trace circuits, cables, cross-connects and termination points.
  • Verify existing equipment and network records against actual field conditions.
  • Assess rack space, power, grounding and cabling requirements for new equipment.
  • Rack, mount, power, ground, cable and label new customer-provided network equipment.
  • Support network migrations, equipment swaps and cutovers.
  • Perform post-installation documentation and connectivity validation.
  • Follow customer engineering standards, MOPs, safety procedures and change-control requirements.
  • Travel between assigned Central Office locations in Virginia.

What We're Looking For
  • Hands-on experience working in telecommunications Central Offices, carrier wire centers or similar carrier facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Central Office equipment, racks/bays, shelves, cards, ports, patch panels and cross-connects.
  • Experience tracing telecom circuits, cables and connections.
  • Ability to read engineering records, equipment lists, rack elevations and network documentation.
  • Experience working safely around live production telecom equipment.
  • Central Office equipment installation experience including rack & stack, cabling, power and grounding.
  • Ability to accurately document field conditions using Excel or electronic field tools.
  • Willingness to travel among assigned project sites.

Highly Relevant Experience
Experience with any of the following is a strong plus:
  • DACS/DCS and DSX environments.
  • DS1/T1, DS3/T3 and SONET/OC-n.
  • Legacy TDM and carrier transport equipment.
  • Fiber/FDF and copper cross-connect environments.
  • Ethernet and network-management connectivity.
  • Circuit grooming, migration and decommissioning.
  • Maintenance-window or hot-cut activities.
  • Cisco, Ciena, Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent, Juniper, Adtran or other carrier-grade telecom equipment.

Project Details
  • This is a multi-site field deployment supporting Central Office locations throughout Virginia
  • Work schedules will vary by site and project phase, and some migration/cut-over activities may take place during overnight maintenance windows.
