Refuse Driver – 3 Month Contract

Summary

We are looking for a skilled Refuse Driver to become part of our dynamic Environmental Services team at Eastcroft Depot in Nottingham. This critical role involves the safe and effective operation of refuse collection vehicles, contributing to the essential waste management services throughout the city. The ideal candidate will lead a small team, adhere to health and safety standards, and uphold excellent customer service while professionally representing the Council. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
  
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and safety checks.
  
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and meet legal standards.
  
• Lead and manage a small refuse collection team.
  
• Provide clear instructions and ensure efficient completion of daily routes.
  
• Utilize in-cab systems to document service delivery and operational data.
  
• Report any vehicle issues, incidents, accidents, and safety concerns.
  
• Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism.
  
• Complete all collection activities according to service schedules and procedures.
  
• Interact positively with the public and deliver excellent customer service.
  
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective service delivery.
  

Requirements

Requirements:

• Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) Driving Licence.
  
• Valid Driver CPC (Driver Qualification Card).
  
• Experience in operating HGV vehicles in a professional setting.
  
• Proficiency in conducting vehicle safety checks and routine maintenance.
  
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Health & Safety procedures
    
  • Road safety regulations
    
  • Safe working practices in traffic environments
    
• Ability to lead a small team and manage daily operations.
  
• Competence in using in-cab systems and service recording technology.
  
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  
• Physical fitness and capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  
• Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends.
  
• Dedication to providing excellent customer service and positively representing the Council.
  

PPE Requirements

Candidates must supply the following PPE:

• Orange Hi-Vis Trousers
  
• Orange Hi-Vis T-Shirt
  
• Orange Hi-Vis Jumper
  
• Orange Hi-Vis Coat
  
• Orange Hi-Vis Waterproofs (for wet weather)
  

Safety boots and gloves will be provided by the client.
