The strongest candidate should have IT services/business development sales experience combined with Energy & Utilities domain exposure. This is primarily a revenue-generating, client-facing sales role—not a delivery/project-management position.

Enterprise sales and complete sales lifecycle: prospecting → proposal → negotiation → closure

Lead generation and relationships with CIO/CTO/IT Director/Procurement stakeholders
RFP/RFI, proposals, pricing, contracts, and negotiations
Account management and revenue/pipeline ownership
CRM: Salesforce, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics
Strong communication, presentation, and consultative selling

Major advantages: an existing Energy & Utilities client network and knowledge of Smart Grid, SCADA, GIS, IoT, Asset Management, Energy Trading, power generation, transmission, and distribution.
