Junior Accountant

Red Ember Recruitment is currently seeking a Junior Accountant on behalf of our client, a reputable organisation within the short-term insurance industry, based in Tygervalley, Cape Town.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting graduate with at least one year of working experience to join a deadline-driven finance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the full accounting function up to trial balance, assisting with reconciliations, processing financial transactions and ensuring accurate financial allocations.

• Prepare, process and capture journals.
  
• Handle importing, exporting and processing transactions up to trial balance.
  
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
  
• Process Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs).
  
• Reconcile income and payments reflected on bank statements against the cashbook.
  
• Ensure accurate account, cost centre and company allocations.
  
• Check and verify invoices for accuracy.
  
• Respond to financial queries and resolve discrepancies.
  
• Work collaboratively within a finance team to meet strict deadlines.
  

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting.
  
• Minimum of 1 year's relevant working experience.
  
• Experience within the financial services industry will be advantageous.
  
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  
• Knowledge of accounting systems.
  
• Tial experience will be advantageous
