Summary:
The Storage and Backup Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of enterprise data across on-premises and virtualized environments. Reporting to the DC Manager/Infrastructure Head, this individual is responsible for the administration, monitoring, and optimization of backup, storage, and virtualization systems. The role focuses on maintaining high availability and disaster recovery readiness through robust backup strategies for Veeam, Kubernetes/OpenShift (KubeVirt), MS SQL Always-On, and SAN storage (NetApp & Lenovo). The administrator ensures compliance with security and audit standards (ISO/ISMS), drives SLA adherence, and collaborates cross-functionally with network, server, and database teams to deliver resilient data protection solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain the Veeam Backup & Replication environment for on-premises and virtual workloads.
  
• Design and implement backup strategies for Kubernetes clusters and OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) VMs.
  
• Manage snapshot-based backups and ensure point-in-time recovery capabilities are validated and operational.
  
• Support MS SQL Enterprise Always-On availability groups with backup and recovery planning.
  
• Monitor backup jobs, resolve failures proactively, and ensure SLA compliance across all backup operations.
  
• Conduct regular restore drills and validation tests to verify recovery readiness.
  
• Manage SAN storage provisioning, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for NetApp and Lenovo systems.
  
• Collaborate with network, server, and database teams to align backup and recovery processes with infrastructure requirements.
  
• Ensure all backup and storage operations meet security, compliance, and audit standards (ISO/ISMS).
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field.
  
• 5-8 years of hands-on experience in enterprise backup, storage, and virtualization administration.
  
• Proficiency in Veeam Backup & Replication (on-prem and virtual environments).
  
• Experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift (basic to intermediate level).
  
• Solid understanding of KubeVirt VM backup and recovery concepts.
  
• Knowledge of MS SQL Backup and Always-On availability group configurations.
  
• Experience with SAN storage systems, specifically NetApp and Lenovo.
  
• Foundational skills in Linux and Windows server administration.
  
• Understanding of networking fundamentals.
  
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
