Environment, Health & Safety Lead – EMEA
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Travel: Approximately 30% across EMEA
Employment: Full-time
Recruitment: Confidential client assignment
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) professional to take ownership of health and safety standards across its EMEA operations.
This is a regional role with responsibility for supporting multiple locations across Ireland, the UK, France, the Middle East, South Africa and other EMEA sites. The successful candidate will provide practical guidance to local teams, assess compliance, identify areas of risk and drive improvements in EHS performance.
The role combines regional EHS leadership with a smaller facilities-management responsibility in Ireland, making it particularly suited to someone who enjoys a hands-on environment and is comfortable operating across different countries, cultures and business functions.
The Role
You will act as a key point of contact for EHS matters throughout the region, working with local management and stakeholders to ensure appropriate standards, controls and processes are in place.
A significant part of the position will involve site visits, compliance assessments, training, risk management and continuous improvement, together with supporting the development of a consistent EHS culture across the organisation.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate EHS activities across multiple EMEA locations.
- Carry out planned site assessments and compliance reviews, identifying potential risks and areas requiring improvement.
- Prepare practical reports following audits and assessments, clearly setting out findings, priorities and recommended actions.
- Work with site and functional leaders to ensure agreed corrective actions are implemented and followed through to completion.
- Keep informed of relevant health, safety and environmental legislation across the jurisdictions in which the organisation operates.
- Advise management and employees on EHS requirements and appropriate workplace controls.
- Develop and deliver EHS training, induction and awareness programmes for employees, contractors and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain and improve EHS policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation.
- Promote a proactive approach to safety and encourage consistent EHS behaviours across the region.
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, including identification of underlying causes and appropriate corrective measures.
- Monitor EHS performance and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement.
- Support the maintenance and development of relevant ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Provide regional guidance on risk assessments, workplace inspections, emergency arrangements and other EHS-related matters.
- Maintain appropriate records relating to inspections, training, incidents, compliance and corrective actions.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across different countries and levels of seniority.
Ireland Facilities Responsibility
Alongside the regional EHS remit, the role will provide support for facilities activity within the Irish operation.
This will include:
- Coordinating facilities-related suppliers, contractors and service providers.
- Supporting office moves, workspace changes and facilities projects.
- Monitoring contractor performance and service delivery.
- Ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained for inspections, maintenance and compliance activities.
- Supporting workplace fire safety, building safety, security and general facilities standards.
- Working with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure Irish sites remain safe, compliant and well maintained.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an experienced EHS professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with practical leadership and influencing skills.
You will ideally have:
- A recognised EHS qualification such as a NEBOSH Diploma, Level 8 Health & Safety qualification or equivalent.
- Significant experience working in a health and safety role across multiple sites or jurisdictions.
- Experience operating within a regional or multinational environment.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections and compliance assessments.
- A proven ability to turn audit findings into practical improvement plans and drive actions through to completion.
- Experience developing and delivering EHS training and awareness programmes.
- Exposure to ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 systems would be advantageous.
- Experience within office, operational, technical, manufacturing, logistics or warehousing environments would be beneficial.
- Some experience with facilities management or workplace operations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The confidence to engage with senior leaders while also working directly with employees and site teams.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach rather than a purely policy-based approach.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams across different countries and cultures.
- Full clean driving licence and a valid passport, with the ability to travel throughout EMEA.
Location & Travel
The position is based in Dublin, Ireland, with responsibility extending across the wider EMEA region.
Approximately 30% travel should be expected, including visits to regional sites and locations as required.
