Head of Inclusion & Designated Safeguarding Lead

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Head of Inclusion & Designated Safeguarding Lead to oversee inclusive education practices, student support systems, and safeguarding procedures.

The role will work closely with school leadership and teaching teams to ensure that students receive appropriate support, inclusive practices are embedded across the school, and safeguarding policies are effectively implemented.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Support the school's strategic vision and ensure inclusion practices align with institutional goals.
  
• Develop and implement effective strategies to strengthen inclusive education across the school.
  
• Collaborate with leadership, teachers, support staff, students, and parents on inclusion-related matters.
  

Teaching & Learning

• Promote effective teaching and learning strategies that address diverse student needs.
  
• Strengthen inclusive approaches to curriculum planning, assessment, and classroom practice.
  
• Monitor the effectiveness of learning support and intervention strategies.
  

Staff Development

• Coach and mentor teachers through classroom observations and constructive feedback.
  
• Support staff in developing effective inclusive teaching strategies.
  
• Contribute to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs.
  

Student Progress

• Use student data to monitor, evaluate, and improve academic progress and attainment.
  
• Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  
• Monitor the effectiveness of individual support plans and inclusion strategies.
  

Safeguarding

• Act as the designated safeguarding lead and oversee the implementation of child protection procedures.
  
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently followed.
  
• Maintain appropriate safeguarding records and documentation.
  
• Work with relevant staff and external agencies when safeguarding concerns require escalation.
  
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
  

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  
• Relevant teaching or educational leadership qualification preferred.
  
• Proven experience in inclusive education and/or school leadership.
  
• Experience working within UAE schools and familiarity with local regulatory expectations.
  
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child-protection practices.
  
• Experience leading or coordinating inclusion and student-support programs.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
  
• Knowledge of UAE inclusion frameworks and school inspection requirements.
  
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs.
  
• Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and individualized support strategies.
  
• Experience leading CPD and staff development initiatives.
