Work Arrangement: Onsite, five (5) days per week
Location: Washington, DC (20001)
Employment Type: Full Time, up to forty (40) hours per week
Engagement Type: Contract

Position Summary

Dhaka Technologies Limited Company is hiring a General Clerk III on behalf of its client, a District of Columbia government agency responsible for administering the District's workers' compensation, safety, and risk management programs. The General Clerk III provides administrative and clerical support to agency operations, including high volume data entry, records management, correspondence preparation, mail handling, front desk coverage, and document scanning in support of claims processing. This position works onsite in a shared, open office environment during core operating hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, and does not perform duties on federal or District holidays or during administrative closings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compose general correspondence pertaining to administrative matters, including PowerPoint presentations, letters, memoranda, task orders, and reports; review correspondence and documents prepared for the signature of the supervisor or higher level managers and contact the appropriate official or office when errors are identified.
  • Perform data entry, maintain records, prepare reports, handle routine inquiries, and manage administrative and clerical tasks such as filing, reviewing correspondence, issuing and tracking action items, and managing timetables.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, ensuring all correspondence is correctly logged, sorted, and delivered to the appropriate staff in a timely manner.
  • Scan and organize documents related to claims, ensuring accuracy and proper filing within digital systems.
  • Provide front desk support as needed, including greeting visitors, managing inquiries, answering phones, and directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Receive and review incoming correspondence and telephone calls from constituents, contractors, and representatives of other District government agencies; perform required research and prepare appropriate replies.
  • Assist with the preparation of special reports related to the program, including gathering facts and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of administrative data.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to a variety of inquiries not requiring technical knowledge and refer other inquiries to the appropriate staff or organizations as required.
  • Follow established policies and procedures and perform a variety of duties as assigned by the supervisor or designated staff.
  • Exercise discretion in handling confidential information and matters.
  • Establish and maintain a variety of files related to program activities and prepare special and periodic reports related to file management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional administrative experience, including experience in high volume data entry and clerical tasks.
  • Strong proficiency in operating a computer and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, to enter, store, and retrieve various types of data, documents, and reports.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation, and of required correspondence formats, to ensure accuracy and adherence to established requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others orally, in writing, and electronically; to explain factual information; and to formulate and present report conclusions.
  • Ability to report in person to 441 4th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001 five (5) days per week for up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to perform more complex clerical duties, including research and reporting, while handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

Additional Requirements

  • Selected candidates must successfully complete a local criminal history record check within the District of Columbia and a national criminal history record check through an FBI approved channeler, including fingerprinting, in accordance with D.C. Code Section 4-1501.03.
  • Selected candidates must participate in an orientation with the agency Human Resources Officer covering standards of conduct, dress code, cyber security, and ethics, and must complete assigned online training as requested.
  • Selected candidates must safeguard the integrity, security, and confidentiality of all personnel information and records in compliance with the Electronic District Personnel Manual, Chapter 31, Records Management and Privacy of Records.
  • Selected candidates are responsible for their own transportation to and from the duty location and may not bill for transportation time, breaks, or lunch breaks.
  • Selected candidates may not represent themselves as employees of the District of Columbia at any time.
  • Selected candidates must record time worked through a web based timekeeping system for weekly review and approval by the client.
